asked the Minister for Defence why retired Army personnel were not considered eligible for appointment to the position of power plant attendant attached to the Corps of Signals at the Curragh Camp in respect of the vacancy recently filled.

In accordance with normal practice, any persons, including retired Army personnel, who are nominated by the employment exchanges concerned, are eligible for consideration for subordinate State employment.

All those sent forward by the exchanges for the position of power plant attendant at the Curragh Camp were duly considered for the appointment.
