3.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power (a) how many tourist boats used the Grand Canal between Rinsgend and Inchicore from Easter to the most recent convenient date, (b) how many of these boats came from sources outside the State, and (c) the cost of CIE of maintaining the city portion of the Grand Canal.

During the period between 1st April to mid-October this year the Grand Canal between Ringsend and Inchicore was used by 84 pleasure boats. Of this number 17 came from sources outside the State and 13 of these were imports by boat-hiring firms. The current annual cost of maintaining the city portion of the Grand Canal is estimated by CIE at £3,400.
