Vol. 218 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Terenure (Dublin) Open Spaces.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether or not the open space at Mountdown Road, Terenure is in charge of Dublin County Council.

I am informed that the open space in question was taken in charge by Dublin County Council on 14th April, 1965.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the need for the preservation of the open space at Greentrees Park, Terenure, and for its development as a recreational centre for the 1,750 families living in its vicinity; and if he will recommend to Dublin County Council the compulsory acquisition of this space as a matter of urgency.

I understand that the Dublin County Council recently adopted a recommendation of its Planning and Development Committee that the open space in question be acquired compulsorily failing acquisition by agreement, for which negotiations have been opened with the owners. It would not be proper for me to comment on the question of compulsory acquisition in view of my functions in relation to such proceedings.
