asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details of any qualifications, other than those of residence, for applicants for houses, imposed by local authorities in excess of the Housing (Management and Letting) Regulations, 1950 and 1953 and the authorities by which they are imposed.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the names of any local authorities which operate a residence qualification for applicants for (i) houses or (ii) Small Dwellings Acquisition Act loans; and the period of residence required in each case.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 11 and 12 together.

I am not aware that any housing authority is at present operating a residence qualification in respect of house-purchase loans. The information requested in regard to the names of authorities who, in the letting of houses, operate residence and other qualifications, and in regard to details of such qualifications is not available in my Department.

Could the Minister tell me whether his consent is necessary before a local authority imposes a residence qualification in relation to a house-purchase loan?

No, I have nothing to do with it at all, neither consent nor——

It is operating in Dublin.

I think the fact is that it was; at least that is my information. I do not think it is operating now.

It still is, unless it was changed since yesterday.

That is not my information.
