Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Bridges.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has yet sanctioned the building of a permanent bridge to replace the present swing bridge, at Bealadangan, County Galway; and, if so, when he expects work will begin.

The Galway County Council's proposal to replace the existing bridge at Bealadangan is the subject of a statutory application for a bridge order. A public local inquiry into the application has been held, and the report thereon is at present under consideration.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has sanctioned the building of a new bridge to replace the existing bridge at Kilroe, Corrandulla, County Galway; and, if so, when he expects work to begin.

I take it that the bridge which the Deputy has in mind is Curraghmore Bridge, on the Galway to Headford road, which is in the vicinity of Corrandulla.

I have approved the contract drawings for this bridge and the submission by the county council of the remaining contract documents—specification and bill of quantities—is awaited.
