Vol. 218 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Carrickmacross Site Development.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Monaghan County Council applied for sanction last May to borrow £80,000 for the development of Cloughvalley site in Carrickma-cross; and that the contractor is waiting to start; and when the council may expect to receive sanction for this loan.

An application was received on 1st June last for sanction to a loan of £80,000 to defray expenditure on the development of the Cloughvalley site. Following detailed correspondence with the council in regard to the apportionment of expenditure included in the loan, separate loan proposals were submitted on 14th October to meet expenditure on the houses being provided directly by the local authority and the development of housing sites for private individuals. These proposals are being examined.

Can the Minister say how long it will be before the examination is completed?

I am afraid I could not say that.
