Vol. 218 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tralee School of Technology.

46.

asked the Minister for Education what are the causes of the delay in approving the sketch plans for the new school of technology on the site of the old Jeffers School, Tralee, County Kerry which were submitted to his Department by Tralee Vocational School some time ago; and if he will reach a speedy decision in this matter.

Sketch plans were received in my Department from the Town of Tralee Vocational Education Committee in August, 1965. The plans related to a proposed apprentice training centre in connection with the Technical School, Tralee. There are, however, wider implications since the proposals envisage a considerable expansion of the centre in the future. These implications are being considered in relation to the establishment of regional technical colleges generally. I expect to be in a position to communicate with the committee soon in this matter.
