Vol. 218 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rebate of Rates on Flooded Lands.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the postponement of the Shannon works and other drainage schemes in the Shannon basin, the Government will give a special rebate of rates to farmers in the area whose lands are affected by flooding.

The liability of certain land holdings to periodic flooding is reflected in the valuation of these holdings and I do not consider that there is any special need for further relief from rates in respect of such holdings.
