Vol. 219 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Roto Baler Twine.

22.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the shortage of roto baler twine; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure that the necessary supply will be available for next season.

I understand from the manufacturer concerned that the production of roto baler twine has been discontinued because of lack of demand but that binder twine, of which adequate supplies are available, is a reasonable substitute for roto baler twine.

My information is different. I am told that the substitute offered is very unsatisfactory and is a much more expensive system of baling.

I gather that the cost is about the same, but the firm involved has indicated its eagerness to cooperate with anybody having any trouble and perhaps these people would get in touch with the firm on the matter.
