asked the Minister for Health the total number of doctors (a) at present actively practising in Ireland, and (b) who graduated from Irish universities in each of the past five years; and whether the present number of medical graduates is sufficient to meet the country's requirements.

According to the 1961 Census returns, there were 2,952 medical practitioners then in practice. This is the latest available figure.
