Vol. 219 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Royalties from Tynagh Mines.

40.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any royalties are paid to the Irish Government by the companies involved in Tynagh mines; whether any payment is based on the mineral content of the ore extracted; and if he will indicate the general methods of royalty payments received by the Government in respect of operations in Tynagh mines.

Particulars of the royalties on profits payable by Irish Base Metals Ltd. in respect of the State Mining leasehold at Tynagh are set out in the Report of the Minister for Industry and Commerce to the Oireachtas for the six months ended 30th June, 1965 submitted in accordance with section 77 of the Minerals Development Act, 1940.

No payment is based on the mineral content of the ore extracted.

No royalties have yet been paid, as the company only recently commenced production.
