Vol. 219 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bed Accommodation in St. Kevin's Hospital.

71.

asked the Minister for Health (i) the number of beds in St. Kevin's Hospital, Dublin and (ii) the number of beds reserved for institutional cases.

Mr. O'Malley

There are 1,285 beds in St. Kevin's Hospital. I am interpreting the second part of the question as referring to persons in receipt of institutional assistance, that is shelter and maintenance as distinct from active medical treatment. There is no specific number of beds reserved for such patients. The number varies but, on average, there are about 690 patients in this category in St. Kevin's Hospital.
