Vol. 220 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Aid to Agriculture and Industry.

25.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Finance the total Government financial aid given during 1965 to (a) agriculture and (b) industry.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in respect of the calendar year 1965 as the accounts are compiled on the basis of financial years. The financial year most closely approximating to 1965 is that ending on 31st March, 1966.

Particulars of estimated Governmental aid to agriculture for the financial year 1965-66 were given by me in reply to a Question asked by Deputy Tully on 25th November, 1965. Total Government financial aid to agriculture in 1965-66 was at that time estimated to amount to £51.9 million and there has been no change in the meantime.

Total Governmental aid to industry, including, inter alia, Building and Construction, Bord na Móna, Tourism, Córas Tráchtála and Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta, for the same period is estimated to amount to £57.5 million. Details of this total are given in the attached table, which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the table:
