Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Statue.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state with reference to the statue of Christ the King by Andrew O'Connor, which formerly lay in the People's Park at Dún Laoghaire (a) the functions of the Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation in relation thereto, and (b) the amount of money expended by the corporation in connection therewith.

Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation is empowered by section 42 of the Public Health Acts Amendment Act, 1890, to authorise the erection in any street or public place within their district of any statue or monument, to maintain same, and to remove any statue or monument the erection of which has been authorised by them.

To date, no expenditure has been incurred by the corporation in the matter.
