Vol. 220 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Longford River.

27.

andMr. Sheridan asked the Minister for Finance what steps he proposes to take to have the River Camlin, County Longford developed.

The Camlin river is the main river of the Longford catchment area and could be dealt with by the Commissioners of Public Works only by means of a comprehensive scheme for that catchment area under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. The Longford catchment is listed for treatment under that Act but present commitments and the extent of the drainage problem throughout the country make it impossible for me to say when it can be tackled.
