Vol. 220 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - 1916-66 Commemorative Medallion.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance whether Worboys 1916-66 Commemorative Gold Medallion will involve any drawing on the State's gold reserves; and, if so, why and to what extent.

The commemorative gold medallion referred to is being issued by Worboys Company Limited, jewellers, of Grafton Arcade, Dublin, as a private commercial undertaking. The issue will not involve any drawing on the gold or other reserves of the Central Bank.

Could the Minister say where they are getting the gold?

I understand that the medal is being struck in London because of the lack of suitable presses in this country and that the gold is being purchased in London for that purpose.
