asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will take steps to increase children's allowances at an early date.

The introduction of legislation to amend the Children's Allowances Acts is not contemplated at present.

Is there any truth in the rumour circulating in the lobbies that it is proposed to increase these allowances on the eve of the Presidential election?

We might put it back to the local elections.

What about the judges' salaries?
