Vol. 220 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Creamery.

31.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will make arrangements in conjunction with the Dairy Disposal Board to have Kilcolman Creamery, Coachford, County Cork kept open as a milk receiving depot; or if he will arrange that suppliers be granted permission to carry their milk to a creamery of their choice.

I understand that, in view of the structural condition of the premises, it would not be practicable to have Kilcolman separating station kept open as a milk receiving depot. As regards the second part of the question, there are four other units of the Dairy Disposal Company's Coachford creamery group in the immediate neighbourhood of Kilcolman, and I am informed that these are the nearest creameries to the farmers who had been supplying Kilcolman. The suppliers concerned may send their milk to whichever of these four creameries they choose.
