Vol. 220 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unlicensed Bulls.

41.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will consider the introduction of a tighter and better knit system of checking on unlicensed bulls as the present system appears to be inadequate.

I am prepared to consider any practicable suggestions for improving the present system though I am not convinced that it is inadequate. In addition to the permanent livestock inspectors of my Department, a number of temporary inspectors is specially employed each year to search for such bulls. The Gardaí also report any cases which come to their notice and offenders are prosecuted.
