Vol. 221 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Acreage.

6.

asked the Taoiseach the acreage of wheat sown in (a) 1954 and (b) 1964.

The acreage of wheat sown in 1954 was 486,400 acres. The corresponding figure for 1964 was 214,400 acres.

In view of the fact that that represents a fall of nearly 300,000 acres, what does the Government intend to do in future in order to have wheat grown here?

That has been announced.

It has not.

It is a very poor effort and I guarantee he will not get it.

Announced at a Fianna Fáil committee.

Do not say it was not announced if it was.
