Vol. 221 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Housing Tenders.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total cash sum represented by tenders for local authority housing which are awaiting sanction in his Department, or which are sanctioned but in respect of which permission to accept the successful tender is awaited.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government the sum of money represented by tenders for local authority housing from local authorities in County Louth, which are awaiting sanction in his Department or which are sanctioned but in respect of which permission to accept the successful tender is awaited.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 40 and 41 together.

The aggregate value of tenders for local authority housing which are at various stages of consideration in my Department at present is about £2,184,433. This sum includes £37,069 in respect of proposals submitted by housing authorities in County Louth.

Contracts have not been signed in the case of some tenders already sanctioned because of the normal requirement that no expenditure should be incurred until the local authority have been notified of sanction to the loan. I am not in a position to give the aggregate value of such tenders because in some areas unexpended balances of composite loans, already approved, are available. Separate details of such cases are not available in my Department.
