Vol. 221 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leave for 1916-21 Veterans.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make the necessary arrangements whereby all local authorities will grant leave with pay to all their employees with 1916 to 1921 military service during the forthcoming 1916 commemoration.

The grant of leave to their employees is a matter for each local authority in the first instance subject to the statutory provisions of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1961. As regards the 1916 Commemoration ceremonies, I understand that the programme of events is so organised that the question of making special arrangements for leave should not arise.

Question No. 35 postponed.
