asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of cases in which the financial incentive of ten per cent reduction of the cost of a new boat has been allowed to those who completed their hire purchase payments within the 15 year period.

The number is 13.

71.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the sum in grants paid by his Department for (a) the purchase of new fishing boats, (b) the cost of new engines installed in existing boats and (c) other miscellaneous gear.

The grants in question are paid by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara from the graint-in-aid provided in the Vote for Fisheries. The amounts paid to date are (a) new fishing boats, £123,759; (b) new engines for existing boats, £22,360; and (c) winches, £1,322.
