Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ophthalmic and Aural Services.

86.

asked the Minister for Health the health authorities which have not implemented general dental. ophthalmic and aural services specified under the Health Act, 1953.

Mr. O'Malley

All health authorities have implemented dental, ophthalmic and aural services in respect of those classes of persons who are entitled to them under the provisions of the Health Act, that is, children up to the age of six years, in respect of defects discovered at child welfare clinics, pupils of national schools, in respect of defects discovered at school health examinations, and persons in the lower income group.

There is power under the Act to make regulations to enable the provision of such services for other classes of persons, either free or on a contributory basis, but no such regulations have yet been made.
