Vol. 221 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballylongford (Kerry) Footpaths.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the extremely bad condition of the footpaths at Ballylongford, County Kerry; and if he will ensure that improvement work on these footpaths is carried out by the county council under the provisions of the main road upkeep grants.

I would remind the Deputy that the selection of works for execution with the aid of their Main Road Upkeep Grant is within the discretion of the Kerry County Council. I understand that work to the value of £500 was carried out by the council under that grant in the current financial year on the footpaths in Well Road and Chapel Road, Ballylongford, and that the council are to consider the provision in their road works scheme for 1966-67 for expenditure of £700 on similar work on the footpaths in Listowel Road.
