Vol. 221 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Pensioners in Ireland.

40.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make a statement giving details of the new agreement regarding reciprocal arrangements for British pensions payable in this country, including a list of the rates of any pensions affected which will now be payable to pensioners residing in this country.

An order bringing the new reciprocal agreement on social security with the United Kingdom into effect will be signed shortly and will be laid on the table of the House. The text of the agreement will be included in a schedule to the order.

My Department has no records of the British pensions in payment in this country and details of the rates of any pensions affected cannot, therefore, be given. It is understood, however, that about 12,000 pensions will be increased.
