Vol. 221 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Swinford (Mayo) School.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that there are leakages and other defects in the Meelick national school, Swinford, County Mayo; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this situation.

I am aware that there were defects in this school; some of them have been remedied and the others are being dealt with. Final payment on foot of the contract has not yet been made.

There are also requests for an extension of the surfaced playspace, for an extra playshelter and for additional furniture. I will have these matters attended to as quickly as possible.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary give an assurance that this contractor will not be paid until this school has been put in a perfect state of repair?

The school will have to be put in proper repair.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary pay particular attention to this matter which is regarded as of great importance by the parents?

Inquiries are being made into the matter at the moment.
