Vol. 221 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Road.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance what is the cause of the delay in providing a grant under the rural improvement scheme for the road at Derrycooley, Rahan, Tullamore, County Offaly, as it is used extensively by Bord na Móna and as a result of heavy traffic parts of the road have become impassable; and if he will treat the matter as one of urgency as all the local residents are very deeply concerned about this road.

Because of the volume of prior applications on hands it was not possible to include this proposal in the 1965/66 programme of Rural Improvements Schemes. An offer has issued, in connection with the forthcoming 1966-67 programme, of a grant of £578, towards an estimated expenditure of £771. Bord na Móna have offered to contribute £50, and the balance of £143 is payable by the applicants.
