Vol. 221 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Housing.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government what plans exist for the provision of urgently needed houses at Donabate, County Dublin; the number of applications for houses received from the county council from this area; and the date when it is anticipated that the demand will be met.

No proposals have been submitted to my Department by Dublin County Council for the provision of houses at Donabate. I understand, however, that the council have a site at Donabate for 18 houses and that they are, at present, considering the acquisition of a further site in the area. They also have a site at Portrane which is capable of accommodating about 100 houses.

I am informed that 81 applications for re-housing have been received from persons in the Donabate area. I am not in a position to say when the demand for housing in the area will be met.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will provide a complete list of applicants for houses in the Swords, County Dublin area indicating (a) the number in each family, and (b) the type and extent of present accommodation, distinguishing between council subtenants, residents of unfit dwellings and single rooms; whether Dublin County Council will allocate houses to qualified applicants who have been residents in a defined area for a specified minimum period; and if he will state the area boundaries, and indicate the residence period.

The information requested is not available in my Department.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate to Dublin County Council the desirability of ensuring that houses to be built at Swords should be planned for completion all at the same time so that the maximum number of applicants now in urgent need of houses may be relieved simultaneously.

The timing of the completion of houses in the scheme is entirely a matter for settlement between the housing authority and the contractor in accordance with the terms of the contract.
