asked the Minister for Lands if he proposes to abolish the present practice whereby auctioneering business for his Department is largely confined to a panel of auctioneers.

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Gaeltacht (Mr. Faulkner) (for the Minister for Lands)
The answer is in the negative. There is a panel of auctioneers (on a county basis) to whom Departmental business comprising in the main temporary lettings of land acquired by the Land Commission and timber sales on behalf of the Forestry Division, is entrusted— and there is merit in having a limited number who become familiar with Departmental practice.
