asked the Minister for Finance the sum which the Agricultural Credit Corporation have been informed will be provided from Government sources for the financial year 1966-67; and the sums provided in the years 1965-66 and 1964-65.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Finances of Agricultural Credit Corporation.
The information asked for in respect of 1966-67 and 1965-66 is published in Tables 4 and 2, respectively of the Capital Budget, 1966, and in respect of 1964-65 in table 1 of the Capital Budget, 1965.
How does the Minister reconcile the fact that a figure of £3.6 million is given in the Capital Budget Tables and in Table 5 of the Current Budget Tables a figure of £1 million is the estimate the Minister is providing for the Agricultural Credit Corporation in the year 1966-67?
That is due to the success of the Agricultural Credit Corporation in getting deposits. The figure of £3.6 million refers to total lendings, the £1 million to the amount to be found from the Exchequer.
Am I to take it then that the Minister suggests that the Agricultural Credit Corporation should be able itself to get in deposits £2.6 million in the year 1966-67?
They get as high a sum as possible by way of deposits in order to relieve the Exchequer.
Since the figure in the Capital Budget is £3.6 million and the figure given at Table 5 of the Current Budget is £1 million, am I to take it that the Minister intends that the Agricultural Credit Corporation must of their own volition find the £2.6 million difference?
That will be a matter for accounting later on as soon as the deposits are in and the demands are made on the Government.
Am I to take it that it is clear from what was said in the Budget statement that all the Government will provide is £1 million?
That may be the case — I am not sure.
The Agricultural Credit Corporation are restricted to £1 million.
