Vol. 221 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loss of Working Days.

23.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of working days lost through illness in 1964 and 1965.

The only information available in my Department in regard to the number of working days lost through illness is in respect of persons insured under the Social Welfare Acts and it does not relate to the calender year.

I regret that because of the breakdown of a punched card tabulating machine the information required in relation to the 1964 benefit year cannot be compiled at the moment, but if the Deputy will repeat his question in about ten days the information will be available.

As the work of card-punching in relation to disability benefit statistics for the 1965 benefit year has not yet been completed the information requested by the Deputy in relation to that year will not be available for some further time.

Why does the Minister not apply to his astrologers for his information?

I should like to be more sure than that.

Who is asking this question?

Deputy O'Leary asked the question.

(Interruptions.)
