Vol. 222 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Swimming Pools.

20.

(Dublin) asked the Minister for Local Government whether the swimming pools which he recommended to Dublin Corporation are to be erected; and, if so, when the work will commence.

As an alternative to the basic indoor swimming pool costing £16,000, which I had suggested that Dublin Corporation might provide in a number of areas, they have submitted a design for a pool incorporating features which they feel are required in pools provided in heavily populated areas. I am having the design and costings of the pool proposed by the corporation examined. I am not yet in a position to indicate what the outcome of this examination will be.

Would the Minister say when he thinks the first swimming pool will be provided?

When the country is afloat again.

In about one month's time, in Longford.

They are taking away the hospital and putting in a swimming pool.

They will not need it so much then.
