Vol. 222 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Fares.

5.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if his attention has been drawn to a report that bus and rail fares are to be increased in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

6.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that CIE intend to increase bus fares and rail fares in the near future; and, if so, what action he intends to take in the matter.

7.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether he has seen reports of CIE proposals to increase Dublin city and county bus fares; and whether, in view of the need to curb the cost of living of the bususing public, he will take steps to prevent such increases.

I propose, with your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 5, 6 and 7 together.

The question of an increase in CIE rates and fares is at present under consideration but I am not at present prepared to make a statement in the matter.
