Vol. 222 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Water Keepers and Inspectors.

49.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has received a request from the Secretary of the Board of Fishery Conservators for the sanctioning of an increase in wages of £2 per week for water keepers and £3 per week for water inspectors; and, if so, whether it is his intention to sanction such increases which have been negotiated between the Board and the trade union acting on behalf of its members.

Proposals have been received from a few boards of conservators for an increase in wages. These will be considered in the light of all relevant circumstances including the declared Government policy in relation to increases in remuneration generally.
