Vol. 222 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 2 and 5—Votes 43, 44 and 40.

Would the Taoiseach say when the Finance Bill will be before the House?

In a matter of a few days.

It will be published in a couple of days.

Last week I asked the Taoiseach for time to discuss a motion we had put down. The Taoiseach answered that he would be prepared to facilitate us and that it was for the Whips to meet to consider what was practicable. The Whips met and all that we were offered was a discussion with the Vote on Agriculture. So far as that is concerned, one can say anything on the Vote for Agriculture without being offered anything, and that, in fact, meant that we were offered nothing.

My only concern would be to avoid using up the time of the Dáil on two long debates on what could properly be the whole question of agriculture when they could be telescoped into one.

Perhaps the Whips could discuss when the Agriculture Estimate will be taken.

It can be taken any time. It is only a matter of arranging the time.

Let the Whips discuss that.
