NOTES:—
(a) A reorganisation of certain General Service Grades in 1960 included:
(i) the assimilation of some grades of Staff Officers into the Higher Executive Officer and Executive Officer grades and
(ii) the assimilation of the grades of Shorthand-Typist, Typist and Writing Assistant into a new grade of Clerk-Typist.
(b) The figures in Tables I, II and III are taken from the annual Civil Service Census. A number of classes—mainly scale-payment Sub-Postmasters, Branch Managers of Employment Exchanges and certain part-time employees whose estimated total number in 1934 was 2,100 were excluded from the Census from 1959 onwards. Staff of the Wireless Broadcasting Service included in the Census for 1934, having since been transferred to Telefís Éireann, are not now included.
