Vol. 222 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of County Limerick Farm.

29.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (1) the names of the seven people who purchased land on the Dwyer farm at Farnasuiter, Ballylanders, County Limerick; (2) the total acreage owned by each prior to this purchase; (3) the number of cattle and cows which each person owns; (4) whether all or any of these people are married; and (5) whether they derive their living solely from farming.

Such information as is available to the Land Commission regarding the personal circumstances of the parties who have arranged to purchase this property has been obtained following a detailed inspection and survey of local congestion. To disclose this information would constitute an unwarranted invasion of the affairs of private individuals and I am not, therefore, disposed to supply the particulars sought in the question. I might add in any event that the purported sale of the property to seven persons would, to be valid, require the consent of the Land Commission to subdivision under section 12 of the Land Act, 1965: so far no such consent has been sought and as yet, then, the sale is but provisional.
