Vol. 222 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quality of Milk.

30.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, in view of the inclement weather this spring with consequent poor quality of milk yield from cows, he will request local authorities to refrain from instituting proceedings against milk vendors for selling milk deficient in milk solids.

While it is appreciated that low levels of nutrition in cows resulting from inclement weather or other causes may occasionally be a contributory factor in producing a deficiency in milk fats and milk solids other than fat, I feel I would not be justified in intervening as suggested in the administration of the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts by local authorities.
