Vol. 222 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Lands.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands what further steps have now been taken by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of the Lineen lands at Glentaune, Lismore, County Waterford; and if they will take urgent steps to acquire and divide these lands so as to relieve the considerable congestion in the area.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his previous question on 10th February last. Three local people are interested in the separate purchase of this property subject to the consent of the Land Commission to subdivision under section 12 of the Land Act, 1965. An application for such consent has been lodged and is at present being examined by the Land Commission. Until such time as this examination has been concluded it is not possible to indicate what other considerations may arise.

29.

asked the Minister for Lands what steps, if any, have been taken to acquire a commonage of 99 acres approximately, known as the Scolm, Knockininsky, East Ballysaggart, County Waterford, since this land would be ideally suited for afforestation purposes.

This area will be inspected in the very near future.
