Vol. 222 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Privacy in Tax Offices.

3.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange with the Revenue Commissioners for the provision of facilities whereby members of the public can discuss personal financial problems in privacy.

The facilities provided in income tax offices for members of the public to discuss their tax affairs in private are normally adequate. There are, however, occasional rush periods of relatively short duration when the normal arrangements for privacy unavoidably suffer to some degree. Even so, where a taxpayer specifically requests a private interview he is of course given this facility.
