Vol. 223 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Taxi Plates.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received representations urging a reduction in the number of licensed taxi plates in the greater Dublin area; and, if so, if any decision has been made in the matter.

Certain proposals designed to improve the control of the taxi service in Dublin were received some time ago and are under consideration. They included a proposal to limit the number of licensed taxi plates but such a measure does not appear to be within the scope of powers conferred by existing legislation.

Could the Minister say whether or not there was a recommendation from the corporation in this matter?

I do not really know.
