Vol. 223 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Comprehensive School.

30.

asked the Minister for Education if he has plans and proposals for the erection of a comprehensive school for the area of Newtown-Doonane, Crettyard, County Laois; if he has had a survey made of the areas concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received a request from the County Laois Vocational Education Committee to erect a comprehensive school in Newstowncross. A detailed educational survey of the area is at present under way and will be completed shortly. My Department will then have discussions with the local educational interests involved to determine the most suitable method of providing post-primary education in the area.
