asked the Minister for Lands how much land has been purchased by the Land Commission in Sligo-Leitrim during the past two years; and how much land is now in the hands of the Land Commission for division in those two counties.

The intake of land by the Land Commission in Counties Sligo and Leitrim in 1964-65 was 2,017 acres. The provisional figure for 1965-66 is 2,287 acres.

The approximate area of arable land in the hands of the Land Commission in these two counties is 2,000 acres.

asked the Minister for Lands what acreage of land has been bought in Sligo-Leitrim in 1965-66; and if there has been a falling off in the amount of land offered.

The Forestry Division of my Department acquired 2,893 acres in Counties Sligo and Leitrim in 1965-66. The acreage of new offers received in these counties during the last three years was: 1963-64, 6,175 acres; 1964-65, 5,415 acres; and 1965-66, 1969 acres to date.
