Vol. 223 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Nursing Work Study.

48.

asked the Minister for Health whether he has sanctioned a work study of nursing in St. Kevin's Hospital, Dublin; the nature and purpose of the study; by whom it is being conducted; and the duration and cost thereof.

Mr. O'Malley

I understand that as a consequence of recent discussions with nursing staff organisations concerning ward problems in St. Kevin's Hospital, Dublin Health Authority decided to request the Institute of Public Administration to arrange for their work study unit to carry out a preliminary survey of the nursing and related services in the hospital. The report of this preliminary survey and the recommendation of the Institute are at present being considered by the health authority. No proposals have yet been submitted to my Department.
