andMr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Finance if he will give the names of the secretaries of the local development committees, their remuneration and the area covered by each committee.

The names of the secretaries of the county development teams and the area covered by each team are given in the following statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

The team secretaries are paid salaries within a range from £1,750 to £2,400.

Could the Minister state the qualifications of those who were appointed?

Membership of a Fianna Fáil cumann.

The appointments were advertised originally but I do not know if any specific qualifications were set down. Something approaching 500 applications were received and they were examined by the Local Development Teams in conjunction with the Central Development Committee. Having been screened, many of the applicants were interviewed and the ultimate selections made.
