Vol. 223 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Films for Schools.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if he will issue, without fee to primary schools, film strips dealing with the 1916 Rising; if he will consider issuing special grants of up to two-thirds of the cost for film strip projectors for primary and secondary schools; and what proposals he has in mind towards providing audio visual aids for primary schools.

A film strip on the 1916 Rising has been produced by the National Film Institute which receives an annual grant from my Department. This strip is on sale at a very reasonable charge.

There are no funds at my disposal out of which I might make grants as suggested by the Deputy. I intend, however, to have the matter examined in connection with the framing of the coming year's estimates.
