Vol. 223 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

37.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that undue delays take place in the payment of social welfare benefits; and if he will ensure that these payments are expedited in future.

I am not aware that undue delays take place in the payment of social welfare benefits, but I must admit that, despite unremitting efforts on the part of my Department to prevent such happenings, delay does occur from time to time in individual cases. If the Deputy will furnish me with particulars of any specific case or cases he may have in mind I will have inquiries made.
