Vol. 223 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - City and County Managers' Association.

16.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the County and City Managers' Association has a negotiating licence under the Trade Union Acts; and, if so, what amount of money is lodged on its behalf in the High Court.

The County and City Managers' Association does not hold a negotiation licence under the Trade Union Acts and therefore it is not required to deposit any money with the High Court.

Following an application made in 1960, the Association was declared an "Excepted body" by an order under subsection (6) of section 6 of the Trade Union Act, 1941. The effect of this order is to allow the County and City Managers' Association to carry on negotiations for the fixing of wages or other conditions of employment without holding a negotiation licence.
