Vol. 223 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - 1916 Commemoration Coin.

11.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that members of the public who subscribed for the 1916 proof 10/- commemoration coins which are issued exclusively by the Central Bank have not yet received their coins; and if he will give the date upon which such subscribers are likely to receive the coins in question.

I am aware that there has been some delay in the issue by the Central Bank of proof pieces of the 1916 commemorative ten shilling coin. The delay has arisen because of technical difficulties which were encountered in the minting process.

Regular weekly supplies of the proof coin are now being received by the Central Bank and distribution to purchasers will commence immediately. It is expected that the distribution will be completed during the next few months.
